GrowthSource was created out of a need to find a better way to provide dynamic coaching support to business owners who want to accelerate their company’s growth by improving themselves as business owners. After a stellar 30 years in the consumer products manufacturing industry, I knew I had the experience and skill for helping people transform how they performed and what they were capable of accomplishing. I was extremely fortunate in my career to learn and experience so many great business ventures and I wanted to pass these along in the form of coaching to others who could use the techniques to successfully build their own companies.
Question & Answer1. Tell me a little bit about your business? What makes it unique?
My coaching method is strategy driven and performance based. I believe that having a well developed strategy for everything you do promotes consistency and mastery. My goal is to get business professionals that want better outcomes to be able to actively pursue these results with clarity and confidence. The 3 biggest areas that determine a company’s success is: how you lead your people; how you manage your operations and how you attract the customers you want. I focus on the right combination of these 3 disciplines to help owners get more control and confidence over what they need to do.
2. How did you get involved in your industry?
I was introduced to coaching while I was looking for something in the consumer products industry a little closer to home. It was suggested that with my background and my ability to communicate with people that I should consider being a coach.
3. How did you start the business?
I initially bought a coaching franchise in 2008. The company went bankrupt in 2011. I took what I had built and rebranded it to create what I have today. I went through all the usual start up phases until I found the right marketing strategy. From there, the word got out and my business took off.
4. Is there anything that surprised you during your early years?
The big surprise was the number of international clients I worked with. These business people had the same challenges as we do in the US but they were doing business in the UK, Australia, Indonesia, Denmark, Spain and Iceland. Many of them chose to work with a US business coach because they perceived us as being the best marketers in the world. Thanks to the internet, I was fortunate to be able to be found by companies in every continent.
5. Why did you choose to locate in Lake Forest?
My family and I moved to Lake Forest in 1993 when I was working for the Lysol Chemical company. We chose Lake Forest because the school system was good, the elementary school was in walking distance and the city was half way between my office and the airport. We have been very fortunate to live here as the city has improved tremendously with the redevelopment of the downtown, movie center and the new sports park.
6. Any special promotions we can advertise?
I offer a no-obligation 30 minute session to business owners and executives called the business strategy assessment. The focus of this session is to help them gain clarity and some options to deal effectively with the issues that are getting in their way. After that, they are free to run with what they have learned.
