Lake Forest-Based Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc. (QTWW) recently announced that it received a contract to develop a 5,000 psi Compressed Natural Gas tank for mining applications for heavy duty mining trucks in Australia. The Quantum Q-Lite 5000 prototype tank is set to optimize CNG payloads in mining applications. The tank has a variety of uses and will be the highest capacity tank of any high pressure gas tank in the industry.

Quantum is a leader in the innovation, development , and production of natural gas fuel storage systems. Natural gas is increasingly being adopted for commercial uses. Brian Olson, president and CEO of Quantum, said: Although many thought mining would be dominated by LNG, Quantum and its commercial partners are proving that CNG offers a much lower cost solution compared to diesel and LNG.
